Frequently Asked Questions

How do you recruit carers?

We only take on carers who share our core values and are able to demonstrate their integrity, imagination and commitment.

All staff have an enhanced DBS check and are required to sign up to our Code of Conduct to further ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone we work with.

Do I have to sign up to a minimum contract period?

We offer a minimum two-hour visit but you are not obliged to enter into long contact. See our rates page for prices contract options.

How long will visits be?

The minimum visit time is two hours. Any less, we believe, can feel rushed and may not be sufficient to provide a thorough, focussed service. Beyond this, calls can be arranged for as long as required.

Can I meet my carer before my booked hours?

Of course! We prefer clients and carers to meet before your contract starts, wherever possible. This may not be feasible in cases of urgency or if your regular carer is sick or indisposed.

What happens if I cancel an appointment?

We ask that you give us 24 hours notice if you need to cancel a session. Less than this and the fee will be payable. However, we recognise that there are times when cancelation is unavoidable, such as for emergency hospital admissions or bereavement.

Are carers insured?

Yes. All of Beacon's staff are insured and have an enhanced DBS check.

What happens if I'm unhappy with my care?

It is important that you let us know as soon as possible if you are having any problems with your carer. We are here to ensure your safety and wellbeing and aim to resolve all problems and disputes as quickly as possible. We will take immediate action in line with our safeguarding policy where necessary.

If you feel an issue constitutes a breech of contract, we will investigate further. You do have the right to cancel your contract with us at any time. However, if you have a fixed contract, you may be bound to pay the agreed notice period.

What is your safeguarding policy?

You can read or download our safeguarding policy here

Are you registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)?

Beacon is not currently CQC registered as we do not offer nursing/personal care. This may change in the future. Our founders have many years experience working under CQC rules and bring that experience to our service.

For more information about the CQC and the different recognised levels of care, see the website.
