PPR

Relevant Paid person’s Representative Service

Beacon provides an independent Relevant Paid Person's Representative (PPR) advocacy service to people within the counties of Leicestershire and Rutland who have been deprived of their liberty under the Mental Capacity Acts. Our experienced staff work in accordance with the Deprivation of Liberty safeguarding regulations.

The Role of The PPR

The Paid Person’s Representative's role is to

  • undertake regular visits to the  person deprived of their liberty.

  • support the person to understand their Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) authorisation and how it affects them

  • enable the person to exercise their rights should they wish to do so

  • ensure any conditions attached to the authorisation are met in a timely manner.

  • request a review of the authorisation should the person’s circumstances change or ultimately refer the case to the Court of Protection

Beacon’s PPR advocates are independent from the care home or hospital as well as the Local Authority and Supervisory Body / DoLS team and abide by the Mental Capacity Act code of practice.

See The Law Society’s guidance for further information about Deprivation of Liberty safeguards.
